Originally, this brand was Villeroy & Boch, which was founded in 1926 and produced high-quality earthenware. In 1948, the company was expropriated by the East German government and its name was changed to Torgau / VEB Steingutwerk Torgau. Following the reunification of East and West Germany in 1990, VEB returned to Villeroy & Boch's ownership.
